I took this photo of a Cineraria in the public garden greenhouse at Virginia Lake (Wanganui) a few weeks ago.

Cinerarias are native to the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Azores. They are herbaceous perennials that are often grown as annuals.

Nowadays most plants are hybrid forms and they are available in a wide range of sizes, i.e. large-flowering, medium, dwarf varieties; each coming in a wide range of colors ranging from blue, pink, salmon, white and other hues.

Thanks for viewing.

Hi Martyn,
Stunning work! One of the best shots I’ve seen from you. Terrific work with the presentation, the shades and colours you’ve opted for look excellent. A real example of perfection – Impressive job.

TFS,
Scott.

a wonderful post.so clear,so balanced so perfect in term of lights ,contrasts, focus and composition.A gem in your gallery,TFS

Hello Martyn,

A very interesting approach to the sharply captured flowers. I hadn't realised the amount of pp you had done from the thumbnail so it was a shock when I opened it up full size. I like to see experimentation. It gives us all ideas and inspiration to try something new. Well done.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Martyn,

Let's declare today as the Day of Flowers :)
I am glad to see such great captures of flowers today and yours one is no exception!

Beautiful macro capture of the violet flowers!
The details are very well shown with wonderful control on sharpness and taken from a nice POV. Last but not least, a great PP work makes this shot wonderful too.

Have a nice Sunday!

best regards,
Paras

Many regards from Germany,

excellent macro, very good composition, congratulations, hugs

Hello Martyn,
I like the subtle purplish tones and the variation of sharpness between layers. Your pp work and framing ought to be commended. The hybrid varieties of cinerarias are also readily available in local nurseries although not cheap. I bought and planted a few and within several months, they were transformed into a massive bouquet of flowers throbbing with vibrant colors. Cheers!
Danilo

beautiful picture with full cool ambience of your spring,
it is nice combination of your previous yellow/orange shot.
