~ Spring Has Sprung ~

The emergence of the large trusses of golden yellow flowers on the Kowhai trees (syn. Sophora) is a welcome and sure sign that Spring has arrived in New Zealand.

There are three types of Kowhai in New Zealand, the largest being Sophora tetraptera which can grow to a height in excess of 10 metres in height. The other two types of Kowhai are Sophora microphylla and Sophora prostrate which are much smaller in stature.

It may be of interest to you that the Kowhai has been discovered growing on the coast of Chile (South America) probably having grown from seeds swept there by trans-Pacific currents. This is all the more amazing considering how small their seeds are.

Hello Martyn,

The beauty of your shot is very much bound up with your brave composition using just the two main colours in the diagonal presentation.

I, for one, am wishing that it was spring here, as we slowly slip into a chilly autumn.

Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Good Morning, Martyn!

What a lovely capture of the golden yellow colored flower with superb contrast to the greenish blue water! The sharpness on the flower is perfect and give a great details of nature's beauty. The POV is perfect and the bit blurry water makes this picture even more beautiful. Well done, my friend!

Paras
