This picture shows some of the great dunes on the Aupouri Peninsula in the North of New Zealand.

We made a nice day trip from Houhora to Cape Reinga and back. We were just the two of us plus the driver. It was beautiful. He stopped, when ever we wanted to. He was a Maori from Far North and told us a lot of the countryside and the history of special places.

We drove over the ninety-mile-beach, which even is not more than ninety kilometres (!!!), saw wild-horses near the beach and later came to this beautiful dunes.

You get a little board, climb up the dunes, which takes a long time and then lay down on the board and ride down the dunes. It was very nice and warm, a lot of people doing it, because all the great coaches from adventure-companies stop there too.

Cape Reinga is a very special place for the Maori, because they believe that the souls of the dead people come there to take the last yourney.

Cape Reinga is the northern point of New Zealand. It is the place where Tasman sea and pacific meed.

I hope you like it too. Comments and more are very welcome!

Very good!!!

Very minimal, almost bordering on the edge of too minimal in my opinion. Or at least it would have been if that white cloud wasn't in the shot. The sky compliments the pale sand too. Had te sky been any darker I don't think the shot would have looked as good.
Great capture
Jako

simplicity rules..!! like the color contrast between the sand and the sky. i just wish there is something on the sand for my eyes to rest on.

Oh, so you did try the sandboard!!? :) It's a great fun..I've climbed up 5 times!! :)))
Nice composition of the TePaki dunes, Sabrina! It is really a beautiful place!
cheers

Hello Sabrina,

I like this very much, minimalistic, nice lines and colour. The small white cloud adds depth to this wonderful composition.

Kindest Regards
Wayne

Quite simple composition, but indeed very effective.
Well seen and captured Sabrina!
If I may suggest, I would have lowered my POV almost to the sand surface to get a better view of the textures of the dunes. Just an idea....
