[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Russell, Bay of Islands, was once the first capital of New Zealand. Looking at this peaceful scene one would find it hard to believe that it was once described as "the hell-hole of the Pacific"!
That was in the early 1800's when it was known as Kororareka and South Sea whalers found it ideal as a whaling port.
Today the image has changed but Russell is still a provisioning port for pleasure craft.

Well composed and colourful image. The kayaks really work well and add extra interest to an already interesting composition. Well done.

So you've been visiting Russell Pat... What a good composition you have here. The colourful kayaks are well positioned and the wharf shows up sharply too. Looks like it was a good day too. Well shown,
Janice

Hello Patricia.

Wonderful natural framing from the tree and the shadows. Stunning colour and depth, well done.

Hello Patricia, a wonderful cloud formation looming over the pier, the red and yellow canoes add a great splash of colour to the photograph. A nice touch are the children squatting along the water line, and the tree and its shadow frame the picture well. Cheers G

Hi Patricia,
Very nice composition of this beach with the kayak and the line of the peer, there is just a little tiltness to the right, otherwise a great photo with excellent sharpness and superb colors. TFS

Hi Patricia,

Nice composition, natural framing, colour and light. This is a great spot alright, so quiet and peaceful over in Russell.
The kayaks look great and so do those nice clouds overhead.

Kindest regards
Wayne

Very good comp and colours here and i think the framing used just highlights that beautifully well done

Very beautiful composition, with superb colours. The kayaks add a nice touch to the foreground, and I like the perspective of the pier jutting out into the water. The lovely blue sky with that fantastic cloud formation is an extra gift. TFS
Cheers Joan
