I passed this house last July while cruising to see the Hole in the Rock on a tourist boat in the Bay of Islands. It is a 12 level house built on a private island in the Bay of Island in New Zealand. To build a house here the building materials have to be shipped in or helicoptered over from the mainland. Not many owners have vehicles, as there aren’t any roads. I was intrigued with this attractive home built all alone on the island. The bay has mooring posts and a little jetty as the owner does have his own boat.
The Bay of Islands, New Zealand’s finest maritime park, owes its existence to the great melt that ended the last Ice Age. The rising sea drowned many river valleys leaving 144 ridge tops exposed as islands in a harbour of breathtaking beauty.
Today you can enjoy this aquatic playground with the help of commercial operators or on your own. Most popular are the large catamaran cruises that do the Cream Trip, the Hole in the Rock and Swimming with Dolphins. Thrill seekers can choose the fast offshore powerboats that zoom out to the Hole, but others prefer sea kayaks to explore the rock gardens and quiet coves, or yachts that glide silently before the breeze.

Very attractive place and great color of the sea and the wood! I think really you are living in some paradise!
Good shot, thank you for sharing, Janice.

This is a weird image for me, as I have taken a photo of this except same scenery, except its in Taupo along the river situated there.
Much like the Taupo place, it certainly looks like a great place to be.
This is beautiful, Janice. New Zealand just went on my top 100 places to visit before I die. The Maori landing here earlier this month on a PR tour. Well, they've recruited one tourist.
Hi Janice,
Some people have all the luck,(or money)and it is not me. I have always wanted to live on an isolated island. This looks perfect to me.
