This is the view of the church as you drive down the Ohutianga Road, about 20 kms south-east of Dargaville, on Northland’s west coast. Dargaville is a town on the Northern Wairoa River, 58 km south-west of Whāngārei and 186 km north-west of Auckland.

We have many timber buildings in New Zealand and many churches were built on a similar plan to this.

I mentioned that there were a few abandoned vehicles in the paddocks ('NZ speak' for fields or meadows) close by the church. Here you can see more of them behind the building. You can just see them showing just above the long grasses. Many had grass growing up inside them. .

excellent composition
good one

Hi Janice

I prefer this colour compo to the sepia one you posted yesterday.

The perspective is and POV and much better and I like the rustic and natural colours, tones and textures. Wonderful!

Hi Janice

A nice entry in the Friday theme. The decrepit old church still has loads of character. Wonderful colour, lighting & sharpness, with a good pov. Tfs!

Good evening Janice.
Are those vehicles as old as the church ?
Or is becourse, the priest told the owners that the can walk again ? haha
Nice looking picture and thanks for the interresting info.

Hi Janice,I like your composition, the churche & its various colors & textures really stands out against the softness of the green fields. It looks as though this area has seen a decline in population with the abandoned church as well as cars,do you know who owns this property,it may give a clue to the abandoned cars.

Hello Janice
Thanks for you comment on my snowscapes photos. You said you don't know how we manage to live in that snow and I don't know either, but we survive.
I love your photo of that old church, in fact I am fond of all old buildings because I feel the hold lots of secrets and stories I would like to hear. If only they could speak. This church has a specual architechture and I thought it was very small before I spotted the cars near the trees and the person peeping hrough the window. Nice vantage point placing the main subject at the foot of the hill. No disturbing elements, no electric wires. I love it
Thanks and greetings from snowy Québec.
