The 30th of November is St Andrews Day - Patron Saint of Scotland. He was one of the twelve disciples and is said to have been martyred by crucifixion at Patras.
This is not the St Andrews flag which is a white cross on a blue background - I took this photo at the Highland Games held at Waipu on New Years Day (unless it falls on a Sunday)
