At the River Mouth
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This large remnant of a root system of a macrocarpa tree was dislodged from its home years ago and had been picked up by the current storm, swirled down the angry and swollen river then dumped almost at the Tasman Sea.
It must be very heavy as it is still in the same spot 5 months later.
PP problem. Have tried alsorts but cannot get the sea any sharper. Would welcome ideas. Thank you. |

Hi Kay, welcome to TL,
First I would like to say that your composition is very good, the tree being right in the foreground, centered. The bluriness of the see seems irrelavent because its only the background and you can still see enough detail to like it.
A minor thing that I see is that the tree is a (tiny) bit overexposed,
(tip: maybe you could underlight in the future and then in photoshop or equivelant bring up the brightness, this works for me all the time as under-exposed still contains detail even in full black areas, if you get white from over-exposing you can't bring back the details anymore by reducing brightness.)
Anyways I like your photo, it has a good feeling to it when you look at it, and I would leave the blurry background as it is.
Greetings,
Raoul
Hello Kay
A very dreamy and surreal shot.
Excellent hues.
A superb Capture.
Bravo
Hi Kay, nice photo, great first post. I like the compo on this and the faded bg. TFS. Welcome to TL!
Welcome Kay. Good focus on the drift wood, perhaps too good hence the nature of the water. The shape of the stump makes it appear off centre and it has some lovely textures. No idea what time of day you took this one but I think you did pretty well on the over exposure. TFS,
David
