Pukeko in natural habitat
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This pukeko was fossicking around the edge of Lake Rotoroa, or Hamilton Lake.
It is very timid and wary, it wouldn't allow me closer than 10 metres or so. |

Hi Peter,
This is a pin sharp spot on image of a bird I lately learned to recognise :-) Great colours,. Fine bird shot, I'm sure Mark will love this one too!

I see what you mean about the similarity between this bird and the british moorhen. Personally I prefer your picture to mine though - very sharp, excellent details and superb colours. And thanks for teaching me a new word as well - fossicking!
Thanks for sharing
Mark
Oh, WOW! Peter,
you got a wonderful shot of it despite its being wary. Beautiful light and color and just awesome detail. I love the red in contrast to the dark blue and black(?). What a pretty bird. Great job! Many thanks and kind regards,
Shelly
