Blanket of Low Clouds

I was in the Wairarapa area today and around lunchtime noticed a lot of low clouds drifting across the region. Over a short period these clouds seemed to intensify in numbers creating a cooling fog-like effect though the clear blue winter sky could clearly be seen on all horizons.

I decided to drive up into the Ruahine Ranges to check out this low cloud bank from a height and took this panoramic photo looking east over the Wairarapa. Within an hour after taking this photo the low cloud bank had moved on and dissipated.

Thanks for viewing.

Hi Martyn my neighbour today a very beautiful landscape indeed just like a painting great POV ,very good DOF.well controlled colors and contrast.TFS

Hello Martyn,

I have seen this effect locally and have always wished I'd had my camera with me!
A great capture. (I think it's called temperature inversion!)I love how the horizontal layers of differing colours and textures build up the picture.
IMO the colours would benefit from a little boost. Have done a w/s for you to explain - hope it meets with you approval.

Best wishes,
Bev :-)
Many thanks for your warm critique on 'Ancient Chinon'.

Hi Martyn,
The composition is gorgeous I remember those views when \I travelled on the south island neat Queens town. Anyway, a pity the landscape suffers of a bit of haze, which is hard to get rid of. As Beverly already wrote an increasing the saturation might improve the picture. Nonetheless the overall impression is wonderful.
