Lovely capture Janice. A clear, clean, sharp photo. My camara doesn't have much of a macro capability and I miss that from my film shooting days. The colors here are striking.
I noticed the name Uitenhage and as a Dutch to English translator, I simply had to look it up. Yes, it's the name of the Town in Eastern Cape, South Africa, but Afrikaans has it's roots in Dutch. J.A. Uitenhage de Mist was a Dutch official sent there in the 19th century.
I couldn't find much on the topic, but I suspect that the name "Uitenhage" comes from "Uit Den Haag" (from The Hague) or "from the hedge" the spelling of "hage" is too complicated to go into here and I'm not a native speaker. There have been a number of spelling changes in Dutch and Afrikaans has also changed some syntax/spelling. Should there be any Dutch or Afrikaans experts out there...Please correct me and let me know. I'm very curious.
I have also understood that the blooms that appear during various seasons are varied from year to year, depending on climatical conditions. Basically, every year yields a different "crop" of flowers in the fields.
Kind regards,
Jim

Hi Janice,
WOW! What brilliant colors!
I didn't know this variety of aloes! It is impressive! And you present it in a beautiful composition. The burned orange against the blurred BG pops out the image. Very nicely done! Annie

hello Janice,
I especially like this one. It has lots of impact, almost a graphical image. Would make a lovely big wall poster.
