This might be a familiar view to you Dawn and Janice!!!
Just a usual NewZealand landscape! :)))
This was taken back in 2002 on the way to Akaroa!

Akaroa harbour is one of the greatest harbour of Banks Peninsula which was formed over six million years ago, following the violent eruptions of two volcanoes. Craters form the harbours of Lyttelton and Akaroa with many smaller bays indenting the coastline.
The peninsula got its name after Joseph Banks who was the botanist on James Cook's ship "Endeavour"!
Akaroa developed into a holiday resort and retained many French influences as well as many of its nineteenth-century buildings.

Than came ToM to take some shots, stiched together (like this) adjusted some contrast and saturation and posted to TL! :)

It was a dilemma cloning that fence out, but without it, it looked boring :))... anyway.. I like it there!!
I cannot give you too much info about the shot...
It was taken with my old Olympus IS-10 on ISO200, auto mode!

Hope you like it! :)

Yep thats a New Zealand scene, and have been here a couple of times too... I actually remember staying in a camping ground high on a hill like this looking over Akaroa..was a few years ago now.. its a very quaint place.
Nice Stitching Tom.. Well done, and I love the composition too.. I say leave the fence in, makes for a more interesting look.

Thanks for sharing a kiwi photo...
Cheers
Dawn... in Kiwi land..
:-))

WOW!!!
ToM, this is great!!!
A stunning colourful view, with razor sharp detail! The sky looks amazing!
Fantastic DOF! A magical place to relax... :)
TFS!!
Well done!
Constantinos

The trip to Akaroa is quite a drive, so much to see, and stop to photograph. Stunning view from up here ToM. And you've done an excellent job with the sewing together. And definitely - the fence has to stay.
Akoroa was the first French settlement in NZ, and still has a very quaint French way about it. I've only been there once, and loved it.
Kiwi cheers and heaps of thanks ToM,
Janice

Hi Tom,

A magnificent panaramic landscape, great colour, sharpness and excellent exposure. Some may disagree, but I'm glad you left the typically kiwi fence in. Very nice stitch job.

All the best
Wayne

Nice view and shot ToM.
I thought that your title had something to do with the hobbits of LOTR.

Hi Tom,
Excellent photo, I must get down to the South Island soon.
There is so much to see in the picture it keeps the eye very busy.
Aaron.

Hello there,

Yes, it's me and I'm back!! first of all let me W-O-W your gallery which expanded so much and so beautifully during my absence. Next, your pic. THANK YOU sooo much for not cloning the fence!! it's perfect exactly where it is. Now, the landscape, time for a 2nd long wooow... And a question: how could you leave Akaroa???! only kidding;)

Oh, just remembered: I have a pic in my gallery which I named "Misty Mountains" but had a long dilema whether to name it Hobbiton. Did you watch the movie? I bet you did..

Shelly:)

Hi Tom,

This is breath-taking! My aunt lives in New Zealand but wow she never sends us pictures like this! Beautiful view caught in a timeless panoramic composition... ah man so many details to point out! The wind blowing the trees to the side, that little wooden kennel/fence right there... oh and all the levels of ground, and the difference in the colours! The sky... the boat in the water... jeez this is really very very very beautiful. One more thing, for an old camera it sure does take one hell of a picture.... but I'm sure you had a hand in that as-well! :P

Biance.
