[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A few days spent exploring the high country in Canterbury, South Island. Filling in a day that we would otherwise be skiing we drove up towards the mountains through Peel Forrest, which I recall from childhood visits. Continuing on along a gravel road we were soon amongst snowy mountains and catching glimpses of spectacular scenery between the low lying cloud. Having little idea of where we were heading, we decided it was time to consult a map....this road led to a dead end up into the moutains! Time to turn back, after our most enjoyable ride on a road to nowhere!!

Bonjour Patricia,
Une peu de neige et de brume fait de cette photo une jolie composition ! le chemin droit est superbe qui va vers l'infini, belle couleurs naturelles, excellent point de vue et cadre..Mes salutations
Michel

oooooooooooo I love it. Used to live up the Ashburton Gorge many years ago and thought there was something familiar about the thumbnail so you have captured the area very well. TFS

Mind if I'll be very honest...?

This shot could have been wonderful if... not the rules... *s* You used two very strong things in one place: (1) very well defind leadins i.e. straight lines concentrating in one point and (2) choice for this point in strong point of the picture. This leads to an unintended effect - eyesight is locked inside this point and it's hard to slide off of it. Another (this time secondary) issue are the desaturated colours. I know that during winter time they are like this, but (I have tried before writing this) change to b&w is better in this case with eventual slight contrast increase (5%).

Once I succeeded with examining the whole photo (*s*) I must say that this landscape is really beautiful - wishing to see it with my own eyes...

What fun Pat - to drive to nowhere... And how many stops for photos? You do show the loneliness and mood of the back country - and to see a gravel road is interesting too. I like your composition.

Love this photo, I think a little more contrast would add to the mood, however I really like the way my eye goes, well, nowhere, led down between the strong line of the pole on the left hand side and the trees on the right. Well done M, K.
