I took this photo in the Botanic Gardens in Christchurch (aka. the Garden City) during a snow storm. The River Avon meanders through the city on the Canterbury plains, originating from the eastern side of the Southern Alps.
THe snow was coming down fast and heavy, hence the blurred falling snow flakes. The tree on the opposite bank of the river is a New Zealand Cabbage tree.
I hand-held my camera. The lighting was quite dull hence the 1/30 exposure set by my camera.
Thanks for viewing. |

Hello Martyn,
a very beautiful image. Very good the choice of the B/W and framing. Well done.
I love snow and I like this image so much.
Regards.

Hum i like this shot Martyn , the blurred snow flakes made longer thanks to your slow shutter speed add good mood to this winter scene and i thought Christchurch was mild enough in the austral winter not to get any snow , it really gets that cold , amazing . The B&W treatment works fine as it conveys the mood farther , a good one ,
Carol
