Outdoor Chess

In Cathedral Square, Christchurch there is a chessboard and on most days you’ll see people playing a game of chess - usually with a small crowd watching the game.

This onlooker was deep in concentration while the chess player was contemplating his next move.

Don’t expect to see some chess players sitting at a table in the Square – check out the workshop showing the chess set.

These oversized chess pieces are available for anyone to have a game of chess.

Yes it is a game with Giant Chess pieces.

Nice contemplative portrait.
I always thought chess was a healthy pastime!
I notice this chap holding a cigarette lighter, the other player is smoking, and look at the butts in your WS photo.
