Here we have a photo of Queenstown, South Island, New Zealand... taken on my recent holiday. One takes the Gondola from the street level to high up in the mountains to reach the Skyline Restaurant, shops, and Cafe, and this awesome view, the day was somewhat cloudy and overcast but did manage to get this view.

The 'Adventure Capital of the World' is a reputation well earned. Queenstown is the home of adventure in New Zealand. We have everything that the adventure seeker could ever want - you can bungy jump with the world's original bungy company AJ Hackett Bungy, tandem skydive with NZone 'The Ultimate Jump', go white water rafting with Challenge Rafts or jet boating with Shotover Jet. Or you can combine the excitement with Queenstown Combos.
Queenstown is a 'Natural Theme Park', such are the seemingly endless array of adventure activities and leisure holiday options to choose from. The spectacular geography of the region creates a special atmosphere and unique setting that has made this town famous the world over. As well as the many adventure activities on offer, Queenstown is also home to Lord of The Rings, filmed amid the mountains, lakes, rivers and forests and is the gateway to Milford Sound, Fiordland.

Queenstown is one of my FAVOURITE places in New Zealand.

Thanks for taking a look.

Dawn.

I love New Zealand - was modelled on Scotland, apparently ;-)

A lovely view here...the flat land, the water, the mountain range and the sky - what more could you want?

I'm curious as to the choice of f-stop and shutter speed though...any reason for that combo?

thanks...KA

Certainly a spectacular view, Dawn.
Well captured and well exposed - does the small aperture help overcome the overexposure of sky, or was it just to help with greater depth of field?
It's a long time since I've been to Queenstown but I know the region and it is beautiful indeed.
Thaks for sharing

Hi Dawn!

Yes! Yes, I do know exactly what you are talking about saying: 'Take my breath away'.
Without reading your comment I can only underline your words. NZ has so many fantastic panoramic views with such a stunning light you never want to drop your cam back into the bag.

Although I think, there are amarter spots arounf QT you got a very nice panoramic view here! I like the contrast between the beach of QT and the Southern Alps to the back (btw: You should try a parachute here - it is that much joy!). Light and illumination is very clear and nice

Hi Dawn,
What a stunning view. The combination of a town, water and mountains makes me want to look at it over and over again. So many little details to see. The clarity is just amazing. No haze at all. Great colors and control on exposure.

GREAT POV, such a pity about the shadow on half the town, but hey you get that!

I love the depth you have got too, looks like you were having fun.

Yes, this view is quite amazing isn't it? Queenstown has certainly grown since I was last there - about 20 years now! I went to the Skyline place but didn't realise how high above the town it is. And steep!
Great shot Dawn, very good Dawn, especially with no tripod!

Hi Dawn,
I like this POV and the beauty of this landscape. The water in diagonal is an excellent leadin to have us gofrom the town and then discover these majestuous mountains in the background. very well done.
