[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi,
This image was taken during the same morning as my previous post of the three sparrows. This chap was constantly hopping in and out of my view almost wanting me to take his photograph. So I obliged and took quite a few shots of him. I took this image lying prone on the ground, using my rucksack as a support.

ROBIN (Toutouwai) Petroica australis
Size: 18cm.
Status: Fairly common.
Range: Central and southern North Island, South Island, Stewart Island and some off-shore islands.
Habitat: Native and exotic forests and scrub land.
Food: Insects.
Voice: A strong “twit-twit-twit” repeated many times, and a wide variety of other musical and chirping notes.
Breeding: August-February. Two to four eggs, cream with purplish brown spots.
General: North Island and Stewart Island birds have ivory white underparts. South Island birds are slightly larger and have a yellowish breast. Fully protected. (source:NZbirds)

Hope you like him, more to follow

Take Care,

John

Never heard of a white Robin - well caught. I like the way the bird stands out from the background.

Hi John, wonderful catch of the chap! Well-focused, sharp and well-composed.

Hi John

A lovely shot of the South Island Robin. Aren't they just the cutest little guys? I often have trouble photographing them because they get too close. Nice work and good presentation. You can see some of my Robin shots here if you are interested. :-)

Hi John,
