Welcome to Farewell Spit - the northern part of south New Zealand.
This picture was taken on a very lovely and warm day. We wanted to make a walk to the head of Farewell Spit and there was a sign telling us, that it is a 2.5 km walk. We walked about 1 km and there was a second sign. It also said 2.5 km. We didnīt thought about it - first...
well, I have to say... we walked about 4 km one-way and we havenīt been at the top of the Spit!!!
It was a very nice walk, there were no people around. You feel like on a private beach!
But today I donīt trust in "signs" in New Zealand... |

Hi Sabrina, Maori people named the spit Onetahua, meaning 'heaped up sand' - the long sandbar stretches out 35km from the very tip of the South Island. A lot further than your 2.5km sign!!!!
I have never been there, but I definitely won't try to walk it...
Lovely deserted beach, but the horizon is uneven, you will have to learn how to even it up before posting. Super colours and lovely to see. TFS

Hello Sabrina... Well I have been there too... but I didnt walk it.. went on a bus...some years back now...nice capture you have here of the sand, I like your composition.. .well done, and I hope you enjoyed your trip to New Zealand... I think someone was playing games with the sign posts... ha ha..
Thanks for sharing.
Regards
Dawn.
As I see the tip at the distance that 2.5 must have been 25km!! :)))) Anyway, nice walk, I would do it!
Techically I'd mention two things:
1, The tilt of the horizon!
2, Vignetting on the upper corners
But that doesn't mean I don't like your pic! :)
cheers
