More then 100 years ago,a telegraph cable was layed between Australia and New Zealand. The bay was renamed from Schroder Mistake to Cable Bay.
After 30 or 40 years the telegraph station was moved to the North Island, near Wellington.
At the same spot there is now a farm and a camping site. The farm is about 1000-hectare coastal, hill country property.
This picture is taken from the Cable bay walkway (A Doc easement) which passes directly through the property. |
