that was my first impression after editing this shot taken near Wanaka.

It's a shame we have a limitation of 800px width so many details get lost due to compression and resize.
At least I hope you can imagine this picture at 4000px width with all those tiny details to look at. Small bushes, trees, even cottages and other things at 'ant-size'.
What I like, too is the separation of the picture into three parts. At first the wide land stretching to the horizont, next the mountains connecting the land with the third part, the clouds / sky. All three parts have different colours and add to one 'piece of art' (of nature, not mine ;) )

PP
Another hdr, here. Of course (you might have guessed it already) this is HPP, so I enhanced the saturation to put strength into the fields as well as into the clouds.
Hope you like it

Hi Gunnar. The jury is still out here regarding HDR/HPP shots, I'm not sure of there value, is there to much information? A good example of this type of photography. Thanks for sharing.

Regards Phil.

Hi Gunner
Its a nice PP works. Looks great in three different colors.

The only thing bothering me is the cloud size & the white mountain's sharp cut. You should use blur tool to soften the sharp edges. Its far away but still very sharp. The cloud size is too big as compare to the whole scene.

With kind of sky filled with dark cloud is impossible to get such colors, even in HDR.

Its a good art work.

Hi
I like your picture, great light, colors and PP technique.
Nevertheless I must add that there are a lot of higly detailed HDR pictures with a wider range that look gorgeous at 800x800 or even lower resolution. Depending on your software, may be you should use another resizing algorithm, I noticed huge performance differences depending on the picture characteristics.

Another important issue is the output size in every internet user screen... for standard users (amateurs) with 15" monitors at 1280x1024 max resolution your 800x800 picture will take 50% of the screen's surface that is equivalent to a decent 25 x 15 cm picture. I respectfully think that a 4000px image goes beyond the standard photographical interests... but useful in commercial, military or sophisticated entertainment fields.

Jorge

Hi Gunnar
Plenty to look at in this shot - the mountains in the distance and the sky is great (the sky might be a little over-exposed as there's some loss of detail in buirnt out areas). Have you tried to crop the image to give a panorama of the mountains and cut out some of the foreground?
