Arthur's Pass (el. 920 m.) is a mountain pass in the Southern Alps of the South Island of New Zealand. It marks part of the boundary between Westland and Canterbury, 140 km from Christchurch and 95 km from Greymouth. The pass lies in a saddle between the valleys of the Otira River, a tributary of the Taramakau in the west and the Bealey River in the east. Arthur's Pass lies on the border of the Selwyn and Grey districts

Critiques [Translate]

Hello Willemien,

A really well composed shot!
The triangular patch of vegetation anchors the shot before the converging lines of the train and the fields drag the eyes at breakneck speed towards the mountains!
Nice contrasts of light and shade.

I think I would have used a little 'poetic licence' and cloned out the wires and pole. You can tell I'm a romantic!

Hoi Willemien,

Ik heb gisteren veel treinen gezien maar jammergenoeg niet in zo'n geweldig landschap als dit.
Een mooi doorkijkje, misschien had de trein iets lichter gemogen net als de "bush" links-voor. Het middenstuk is weer stralend! Het kader past er mooi bij.

(Gaat de "Bride Flight" vanavond ook niet naar Christchurch??)

Prachtige plaat, die trein op de voorgrond geeft de foto mooi diepte. Heldere aansprekende kleuren. Hoop dit over niet al te lange tijd met eigen ogen (en camera) te kunnen zien. Je geeft me hier een mooi voorproefje :-)

Goed, ik ga mijn koffers pakken en reis af.

Hi Willemien, een heerlijke foto van het Zuidereiland. Wij hebben vroeger op het punt gestaan om te emigreren naar Nieuw Zeeland; het blijft toch altijd trekken en wij hopen dan ook nog eens daar naartoe te kunnen gaan.

Ik heb hier geen probleem met het feit dat je de schaduwzijde van de trein ziet, op deze manier vormt hij een omlijsting van het landschap.
Je ziet dat Hans over niet al te lange tijd afreist naar Nieuw Zeeland - de bofkont!

Mooi plaatje van far away.
Maar afgezien van de toch wel storrende Highlines, rustig aan met verscherpen. Het gras en rails worden er niet beter van.
Plaatjes waar veel bladeren in voorkomen ook nooit.
Is onnatuurlijk. Jammer dat de 'goede fotografen' hier niets over zeggen.!
