I held this huge piece of ice with one hand and photographed it with the other. It was by the beautiful Lake Lyndon and Korowai / Torlese Park near Porters Pass in South Island NZ
It's amazing how heavy ice this size is, it must have been at least 1 or 2 litres of pure fresh frozen water, and was approx 8mm - 10mm thick

Woo... impressive! I'm amazed at the ripples and patterns in the ice, that's unusual isn't it?

Nice idea, nice capture.

Hi Steven,
Interesting shot, the light through the ice is great - I thought you had broken the bathroom window at first,
cheers
Jack

Sure looks like a piece of glass Steven..AMAZING. Oh how I would love to be done in the South Island now taking photos... of such things... BUT mightly COLD!

Well done on taking this photo with one hand, your composition is spot on...good to see the snow and road in the background too.

Cheers from the North.
Dawn.
