Just to be versatile, here's another landscape shot from the beautiful New Zealand.
This photo was taken in the southeastern corner of the South Island called the Catlins. According to a travel guide, it's a "scenic treasure"! Yes it is!! :) I just can't mention all the attractions in this area!! :))

Curio Bay is one of them. A 180 million years old petrified forest can be seen on a rock platform at low tide. This Jurassic forest, of petrified tree stumps and logs, is one of the few clues to New Zealand’s geologic history.
Unfortunately it wasn't really low tide (as you can see) when I was there so I couldn't walk down to make close-ups of the logs :( Next time! :)

PP: Scanning & stitching 2 pix together, after that the usual things: contrast, color balance, sharpen to make it look as it is :)

Beautiful and nicely achieved landscape picture. Perfect lighting and exposure. The colours are just so well balanced and with the right amount of saturation. This makes me want to go there; New Zealand is on my list. ;-)

HI ToM, the Catlins is a place we drove through, but never stopped. This was pre-digital camera days! But I wish we had.
Super landscape, and excellent scanning and stitching. The colours are so clear and it is all nice and sharp. I love the composition. The clouds look good too. It looks like rain was coming especially seeing how low the clouds are against the water. Another good job from you! Thank you.

Superb landscape shot. Nice stitching too. I love the colours and composition. The small house/cottage gives a sense of how big the whole thing is.
Pardon my ignorance ...how does one achieve stitching?

composition and sturated colors are awesome, excellent photo ... outstanding.

peace,
goc

PS: time for land-sea-sky/scapes masters to group :-)

Now we're talking Tom! That's the sharpness that was missing in your first post. As I said, I've been to the Catlins, and it is a wonderful, un-spoiled area. Your photo brings back good memories! TFS!

Well, this brings back lots of great memories of visiting this area which was quite a discovery for us. We stopped a bit by accident in this area and we fell in love with it. I like the composition, the colours and the light in this picture and it shows Curio Bay to its best advantages. Well done!

This is surely breathtaking! Ah, New Zealand...it's understandable why they went there to film "Lord of the Rings"...for a scanned picture this is marvellous! the colours are amazing, the view is excellent...I think it's good you took this one from the distance, it shows the ambient very well! And look at the cloud just above the log - it swirled so lovely!
great job Tom!
regards,
M.

Hi ToM!!
I like the compo.
Colours are great.
I really like the shot.
MAtej

The sky looks really cool- I love all the shades of blue. Its really a great landscape photo with the rolling hills and then the ocean. That forest sounds interesting- too bad about the tide. Nice work!

Fantastic Tom !!!!....This is a place that not many overseas tourists go to when they come here to New Zealand, let alone Kiwis.. but I have been here... while on a months holiday in the South Island a few years back.. with no digital camera !!.. it hasnt changed in 100 years !! and never will, its a remote untouched part of the South..if you asked 10 Kiwis in Auckland where is the catlins.. be lucky if 2 could tell you!..

You have captured a most lovely photo.. and you stitched it well..... Well Done Tom...

Kind Regards
Dawn.

Hi Tom, gosh this is so beautiful, I like that we can see also the vastness of this place.
