but the light is too strong and her face and colours looks not too good...
but very sweet and... litlle romantic...? :)

sure the light could be a bit softer but generaly i like when shots are overexposed, so it doesn´t distrubs me too much :) but the pose and the light perspective are really nice,

tell you ,by looking at this photo once cant say that you are not good at portrate.. you are good at portirate.

Just a quicky to say I like this picture

Im not a big fan of portraits but......this as you say bares a little bit of your soul... me included its hard for me to submit my image...but I feel I am with friends :-) so i have,
Lovely shot, love the dark background, the hard sunlight, and the look of a child loving her mother.

will take a bit more time over your other work over the next few days.... anyway well done ..

Hello Karen,

Interesting portrait, pretty girl, nice pose, I like the dark BG and the use of natural light. Like yourself and Ron above, I find it's a difficult move to display portraits to the world as everyone has their own ideas and views of what is and is not technically correct when it comes to portraits and it's sort of intimidating. Good effort.

Hi karen, First I would say the composition is great. That is portrait is all about...getting an emotion portrayed and you did that very well. I would say that from a lighting perspective it is unfortunate that we can not see well the left side of her face. It is ok sometime to not see it but in this case I would say it would have been better to have more light on the left and a little less on the right.

Overall good shot.

I like the portrait. It is quite different from the regular child portraits that we used to seeing. Maybe the light from behind could be a litle softer, but the feeling of her being suspended in space is increased by that. The portrait is well-composed too. The directness of her gaze and the playful mischievous look is lovely.
She is a very pretty girl, Karen, who will become a very beautiful woman in the fullness of time.
