This photo is of Mount Cook, on the South Island of New Zealand. We stayed in Mount Cook National Park for the night and even though it was still summer, it was freezing! If you ever go here, make sure you bring your own food as there are only three or so restaurants to choose from and no stores. The day we arrived, Mount Cook was completely covered in a thick blanket of clouds. When I awoke around eight, I noticed the sky was blue so I ran out to take some photos. Thankfully I did, as ten minutes later, it was completely covered in thick clouds again! I couldn't believe how vivid the blue came out...I have not enhanced the sky.

Cheers!
Jessica

Hi Jessica.

gets my vote....this is truly a wondering scene...amazing shot, well done.

Hi Jessica,
What a splendid view of Mount Cook!!! The warm tone of the grass contrasts very well with the intense blue of the sky and not forgetting the snow covered mountains- ever so magnificent. The two human figures provide us an insight of scale of the whole landscape. TFS.

Hi Jessica,

That is an amazing capture!! I hope to be there sometime :) Very nice colors and wonderful POV. TFS.

Jessica, yes you have to grab the moment when it arrives. I have never seen Mt Cook, as it has always been covered in cloud. And we didn't stay up there, or eat there either - too expensive we thought. But the area is great to visit.
You have captured this so beautifully. Excellent composition, and the colours and details are all so well shown. I like it,
Janice

Lived here practically all my life, never seen Mt Cook... no excuse! This one proves that if you hve a camera handy and you see an opportunity, you should take it.
Nice contrast between the sky and the dry grass here.
