Welcome to the geothermal area of New Zealand - Rotorua! This picture was made at "Te Puia", just a few minutes to walk from the city-centre of Rotorua on the north island of New Zealand.
In "Te Puia" you can see and feel the geysers hissing and steaming, coming out from the deep earth. There are also blubbling mud pools and boiling water-pools. And there's a maori-village with traditional shows in the evening and a traditional "hangi"-meal.
The "hangi" is an earth-oven. First you give stones in a hole and store wood over it. Then you burn off the wood, take out the ash and give the food (stored in baskets) between the hot stones, cover it with earth and wait. It is very interesting and tastes great. You should try it, when you are in Rotorua. We tried it at a Maori-Show at Tamaki Village (about 20 minutes drive from Rotorua). It was a very interesting and nice evening.
Rotorua is really worth visiting with the old bathhouse (today it's the museum), the polynesian spa and a lot of other things to see and to do.

Kia ora Sabrina, I am pleased you enjoyed Rotorua, and the smell didn't put you off? I enjoy going there and seeing the weird and wonderful attractions there.
You show off the geyser very well, thank you,
Janice

To be frank I have a shot of this geyser from the same POV! Were we standing on the same place??? :)))

Hello Sabrina!
So curious to discover more about the land of the kiwis, I bought this morning the NZ guide. So I will be less in the dark following your various excursions, with also the ones from Janice , Dawn and other TL members.
Nicely done here. Bright colors, Indformative note adds up to it.

Hallo Sabrina,
Wow ist das ein Bild, ein sehr gute Foto, schöne Farben und herrlich getroffene Moment wo der Geysir hoch geht.
Gratuliere
Janusz
Hi Sabrina,
You got a great geyser photo as well and this one from the other side of the world. Great POV and excellent control on the exposure. It's a pity it is lacking some sharpness in the F/G.
TFS,
Niek
P.S. I added you photo to the geyser theme
