[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
See what happens when you entice a group of friends to dinner then make them sit still for ages on a large settee, illuminated by nothing but the light of a mobile phone...

There they were, inspired by a great day's snowboarding and the Big Mountain Film Festival, willing models all. The girls - that's Meagan, Kylie, Loz and Lucy - held this pose for 391 seconds in the dark while Mike "painted" them with the cell phone light (thanks Rach!). Sounds impressive? You bet - and this was their 48th take!!

Workshop

This is what happens when the models start getting a bit jumpy, and the onlookers can't resist leaping in with a laser pen to draw corny pictures above their heads...

Nice work Steven,

very creative, it look so much fun, especially the one in the workshop. Even with those little light, it is wonderful to see the expression of their face, sharp and clear. Good job!

So this is what you get up to in Raetihi..:-)Love your photos.. specially the workshop one.. looks like you guys were having fun...

Cheers Dawn.

Very innovative & creative, Steven, and a big thanks for your friends patience & collaboration. The results is very impressive. I like the expression on all of them as they all have different faces: some bored, some having fun, some in wonderment, some just there. Excellent!

It's true the light of cellphones is powerfull... Use them with long expo is great! So it was shurely fun to do! Hard to stop to move for a few minutes... The funny thing is they look disconected one of the others. Concentrate to theyre pose and no interaction. If it was take in 1/60 of second i would find the posture weird for that detail.
The blue give them great effect!
Experience is a wonderfull succes! We see that some have more patience then others :) it appear with the sharpness of the face!

Very impressive photo and concept. I love the star on his T shirt.

Cheers!

Ben.

Hi Steven,
Very intrigue picture. This is only lightened by a cellphone light? Great experiment my friend. The person in the middle is quite sharp together with the expression of the faces it is an extraordinary picture. Job well done Steven! TFS.
Hans

:) later....

As promised...

Ha! So we finally get to see Meagan! She wasn't asleep after all those photo taking while the girls did the dockking then?
Good result Steve, the blue light is quite vibt=rant. Well done,
Janice

Hi Steven,
Absolutely fantastic!
The composition works so well, there is so much to see here.
The blue glow is great and it's a very original idea! I particularly like that person standing in the background with the star on his T shirt and the girls upfront in deep concentration, great expressions!!
Thanks,
b.

Well composed Steven. Great effect.

Interesting image. Great idea. I have seen photographs where beams of light are used to paint ... but this takes the cake.
Good composition. Great expressions. They don't seembored at all.
