In my last post I showed a close up of the blowhole, and the water cascading back into the hole.. here it is with the water just blowing out and catching a rainbow at the same time.

These pancake rocks are at Punakaiki, West Coast, South Island, New Zealand... I was there recently on holiday.

The Pancake Rocks are columns of limestone resembling stacks of pancakes. At high tide with a heavy swell running, seawater is forced upwards through blowholes.

Thanks for looking.
Best Wishes
Dawn

Hi Dawn

Yes, brilliant! I remember seeing this last year, but not as dramatic. Excellent timing my friend. Love the rainbow. Back home now after a most successful rally ever! :-) Catch up with you soon!

Excellent catch with the rainbow Dawn. Those blowholes are great to watch, and you seem to have frozen the splashes. Well done,
Janice

Hi Dawn
You chose a good time of day to grab this shot - excellent light and that rainbow is fantastic!

Your camera's sharpness does the rocks justice I have to say. Excellent work - thanks for sharing!

Hi Dawn,
What a stunning image. It is beautiful to see how nature creates its wonders. Just amazing that the water seems to appear out of nothing. The shapes of these rocks are very interesting. The rainbow is a beautiful bonus.
TFS,
Niek

Dawn you're images are unique to many of us. Much of your landscape in NZ is very different from the landscape her in North America. It's always a treat to see what you will come with next. The rainbow and the texture in the rock is what makes this image for me.

Regards,
Joe

Superb snap, Dawn! Capturing the rainbow was a huge plus here and the dof, pov, is spot-on. Sharp and clear, too, which is good for landscapes. Did you get the gold?

Interesting store, Dawn. Good shot too.

Hey, I love pancakes for breakfast, Dawn ;o)
I love the colour gradient here, and the rainbow you captured. Excellent saturation, my only nit-pick is that the water burst looks a wee bit oversharpened...
Anyway, a beautiful piece of Kiwi nature! TFS

The composition around that wonderful rainbow is spectacular, another shot worthy of the Toruism Bureau.
Grand colours, textures and light & shadow play.
