Zooming on in...... Here trying my hand at taking photos of people at random, with my 70-300 lens, while with Janice and Sweety (Puffy) in Auckland City recently, trying to capture life in Auckland.

I still feel a bit strange taking photos of strangers, do you ? I hope they dont see me, so its always a bit of a quick snap.. I rather liked this one, of the young Asian girl talking to another girl here..

Thanks for popping in for a visit... appreciate your thoughts, critques etc..

Have a Happy Weekend..
Dawn.

Hi Dawn,
Fantastic details and sharpness you have here. I also like your DOF. Yeah, I'd feel pretty weird about it too. I don't have a big enough zoom lens to go un-noticed, so I wouldn't even try too. Well done.
:) Kath

Good one there! A small comment though, I don't know whether you have these people's permission to post photos of them on the Internet or in fact anywhere else... I am not familiar with NZ legislature but in many countries this can only be done with the subject's explicit permission. I don't mean to rain on your parade, just asking :)

Hello Dawn,
She is pretty and it is well done to get so fine details under these conditions!
Image is well composed, with fine natural colours!
Greetings,
Pablo -

It's a great capture though Dawn, great detail and very good use of available light, excellent sharpness - especially with the zoom + relatively low shutter speed, a surprisingly intimate portrait. I like!

Hi Dawn,
You've caught this attractive young woman perfectly Dawn, great sharpness, natural colour and great soft lighting. Glad you left the other head in the pic, it gives meaning to her expression.
Well done,
Peter.
PS; NewsTalkZB was rabbiting on about the shortest day being the 22nd, I always thought it to be the 21st...but what would I know?

Hello Dawn.
I see to are rather familair with this lens now.
Perfect shot from distance. Superb focused on the face, while the head in front is good soft and acentuate the face of the pretty girl.

Eavesdropping? Does your 300mm contain a laser microphone as well, Awatea? LOL.
Mmm... I don't feel comfortable taking strangers' pictures, as I don't really like being photographed myself.
But it's a nice capture, 300mm at only 1/100, the IS works wonders right?
TFS this beauty.
Yeah, the girl, what else?? LOL
