Sempervivum
This is a hybrid Sempervivum, also known as Houseleeks. Most species are native to Europe. Some have smooth leaves like this one. Others are covered with hairs. Houseleeks rarely grow more than 8-10cms high, but they can end up looking like carpets of rosettes which can spread 30-50 cms.
These plants are best grown in cool to cold climates. They grow best in the open in full sun. They are easily grown by division of offsets/ pups taken in spring and summer. Although the rosettes may die off after flowering, many offsets / pups have usually been formed by this time and will continue to grow. These can be replanted elsewhere. |

Splendid, very beautiful colors, I have some in my garden, on a roof, I will try to put them in WS. Here, it is said that this plant protects from the the storm and the flashes when you put it on a roof...
It is very well done, Janice, and your note is very instructive!
bravo!

Very beautiful plant Janice and nicely photographed. You do an excellent job posting your photos and notes. Keep up the good work my friend.
God's best,
Tim
Beautiful colors and great lighting. Very nice!
I have this plant also, we've always called it a Chicks & Hen plant. Mine doesn't have the lovely red color on the edges of the leaves. Very bright clear capture of this interesting plant. Well done.
The colours and composition are really great.
These plants arise in a natural way.

Hello Janice,
a very nice pattern comes out from these plants. Lovely colours and good contrast . Great impact on the colour combination and great positioning of subjects here. You picture of the mimosa pudica is also excellent. In our country, it is not a noticeable plant. They grow wild everywhere. Cattle and goats' food actually.
In the real sense, every creation is beautiful.
Regards,
Foozi
