April Ann again, and my attempt to get a clean white "studio" effect without having to do anything crazy like erasing and replacing backgrounds.

Halogen lighting setup with custom WB. PP - tweaked contrast, slight crop (I think.)

I already know one mistake - I used ISO 100. The white background effect seems to come out much better at higher ISOs - 200 or 400. And of course her shadow cast towards the lower right.

But on the positive side, I like the lazy mood she presents here.

Any suggestions on how it could look better ...!

I like all your pics ...
But wanted to try something here, I used Gimp and used smudge to clear her face and hands , also cropped a bit.
Hope done a good job on this.

Hi Rew,

Another beatiful work pare ko. Just a comment on the lighting. The light in the background seem a bit strong to me. As such, the garment of the model seem to have been lost with the background. Overall, it is still a good work my friend. TFS.

I like the way you setup this image by putting her on the whites . . She stands out . .
Highlights are clearly presented . . I am still learning, and try to understand all detail from this picture . . and definitely will learn more after showing it to Haldian . . I think he's out for a moment . .

second: your 'white' shots are getting better and better - I still prefer black BG, nonetheless this one works really well (partially thanks of this lazy 'bed' pose)

Very beautiful composition and I think that the background, with ISO 100, seems more natural than using an higher ISO, forming a harmonious joint with the model.

Hey I like the white bg and clothing looks very professional like. My problem with the pic here is that her straght arms should be slightly bent. She looks too stiff. Beautiful face and nicely posed. Her expression is wonderful. TFS

Certainly a nice mood here. The fact that the floor is obviously very firm means that this pose is hard on the wrists. If the base had been softer and the hands sunk into it a bit more I think the relaxed and lazy feel could have been a touch more authentic. As ever though, beautifully captured and well thought through.
Is it quicker to set up a white studio effect or engage in PP work on backgrounds?
I think the difference between 'serious' work like yours and other happy snappers (like me) is the amount of thought and preparation that goes in before the shot is taken. Your picture taking is 'front loaded' if you like, where as I try to improve a satisfactory image with PP after the shooting.
It is interesting how when I first came on the TL site I was more interested in learning PP techniques. What I am learning from you...and others...is that the pre-planning and thought is vital. That wonderful picture of your Dad resulted because you were preparing to shoot others later. It is a whole different mind shift and I must make more time to 'front load'.

Hi Rew,
Unlike You, I'm not a portrait specialist, but I like Your photos very much. This is again an outstanding one, a pity she's looking rather boring to the camera - but as I read in the note, this is what You wanted to shoot. I don't say the expression on her face degradated the photo, it didn't at all, just simply it's not what I personally prefer. And of course this doesn't mean the photo itself isn't a stunning one.
