Delicate Orchid
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I found this delicate little orchid flower in the Botanical Gardens in Christchurch. The plant was enclosed inside a greenhouse and behind a barrier - for protection from the elements plus the hands of admirers, I suppose.
I do wish the focus was better. I am experiencing this problem often with my new Canon 350D Rebel XT... and I can't see the softness until I get home and put it on the computer screen... I use auto-focus because of my poor eyesight, and I did apply USM. Focal length = 52mm. Any suggestions for focus problems? Am I the problem, or do I need to have the camera checked? |

I think it's a beautiful shot. I don't really see a problem with it, but I also have poor eyesight, which is exacerbated by the computer screen. Anyway, the colors really pop, I like your off-center composition and the softness of the background
Most photos can off in focus, for many reasons. Don't panic because of one or several photos. I can't speak for your camera. But next time and always take several shots. I sometimes take 4 or 5 of the same thing, just incase one is out of focus. Keep shooting and posting here. Also try cropping the flower on the left out of picture. This way my eyes focus on the ONE main photo. Your camera focused on the second leave from the left side, instead of the middle. Don't forget your looking at a screen...try printing a few ..
