Omaha Beach
Omaha, New Zealand, is a Maori word understood to mean “place of pleasure”. . .

What do you think of this beach?

On Saturday Pam, Dawn and I drove north on a photo-hunt. We visited Puhoi, Matakana and Omaha and had a fun time doing it. Thanks Girls!!

Omaha Beach, New Zealand, is located just an hour's drive north of Auckland and 15 minutes east of Warkworth. Omaha Beach is on the edge of 'Matakana Wine Country' and 15 vineyards can be reached within 15 minutes drive. The attractions of Goat Island marine reserve, Pakiri beach and the Tawharanui Regional Park are at our doorstep.

Only minutes away from Omaha Beach there are cafes, restaurants, galleries, vineyards, farmers' markets and the charming town of Matakana.

While Omaha Beach started as a beach resort, as many as 200 families now call Omaha Beach their permanent home. Residents and weekenders alike enjoy the collective sense of our community in a relaxed and stylish manner. Omaha Beach benefits from its own microclimate quite different from that of Auckland.

Situated in Whangateau Harbour on the east coast, less than an hour's drive north of Auckland, Omaha Beach is a four kilometre white sand beach with crystal clear water on one side and an estuary on the other.

Swim, sunbathe, surf, play some golf or tennis and just relax. Omaha’s proximity to Little Barrier Island also attracts divers and boaties.

BTW - It was a beautiful sunny day yesterday - the temperature was around 25C. We did think of you up in the Northern Hemisphere now and then, as we tried to look for trees to shelter under from the sun.

Good evening Janice.
Sory for 'delay', just watched the world championship Speedskating in Nagano, Japan.
11 medaills for Holland, Sven Kramer was the absolute winner, unbeatlebe he is.
Lovely Beauch you shows here. Place to be. With the dunes as background I would feel myself home.
You girls sure had a fantastic day.

Hi Janice,
The blue tones in this picture are amazing! Perfect amount of natural light and a very nice wide angle. The texture of the clouds along the horizon is beautiful, as are the different textures in the sand. Thanks for sharing.

As you know I'm from up north ( North of the north) Thanks Janice to bring us a piece of hope this morning. As you know too over here it's white too on the ground but not the same white.

The line of clouds here is a + in your photography.

In OUR part of the world, all the white stuff would be very cold! (We had another 25 cm fall on us last night -- this is a record-breaking year for snow here!)
Superb colours, fine details, excellent composition

Oh boy, wish I was there right now.
Diane and I had to shovel over 3 feet of snow drifts to get to the driveway.
We received over a foot with sting winds.
Excellent capture.

nice shot
beautiful summers day

Colour cast or the volcanic nature of the sand? Whatever, a well composed image Janice, lovely clouds and a that deep blue sky. I really don't know if we have sandy beaches here, the few I have been to have all been rocky coves. TFS,
David
