[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I just had to stop to take this photo.

My husband and I were on holiday down the South Island of NZ last month. It was autumn here in NZ and while the North Island had severe storms and floods that week, we celebrated such wonderful weather down south – a little cool but so refreshing and with lovely sunny, even hot, days… And we got to see some snow.

This is on the road between Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki, in the Mackenzie Basin, which is situated in the centre of New Zealand's South Island. It features mountains, lakes, rivers, beech forest remnants and rolling tussock country.

We were driving down this road on the way to visit Lake Pukaki and Mt Cook
when I saw this view from my rear-vision mirror and I just had to stop and take some photos.

The mist had arrived not long after we left Lake Tekapo and it was still there when we reached Lake Pukaki, about 40kms away. I liked how the trees were starting to disappear into the mist, and in the far distance you might just be able to see the start of the hills surrounding the tussock flat land of the Mackenzie Basin.

Lonely, peaceful and mystic place. The colors add a beautiful mood to the road. Lovely photo. TFS

Hi Janice,
I like much this kind of landscape! They give me a great freedom's impression! This one with the mist enhanced this impression to be in a nowhere with many possibles in front of us!
The composition is classical and inviting! The mood is as if time belonged to you!
Congratulations! Annie

Hello Janice.
Sure a beautiful place to stop and shoot some pictures.
Cimposition is good and it matters a lot that the mountains are just visual through the upcomming mist.
Very well done.
Best regards from Jan

Hello Janice. You made the right decision to stop and share this picture with us. Stunning perspective with the turning road. The pine shaped trees are sitting on the sweet spot along the road and just love the wide space and the misty hill at the backdrop. Thanks for sharing and best regards. Jusni

Bonjour Janice,
J'aime vraiment beaucoup cette perspective qui mène sur ce vaste horizon.
Superbe!
Michel.

Just enough mist to make it interesting Janice. Lovely rich colours in the foreground, well composed and good detail. It reminds me a lot of the countryside between here and Hobart, flat. TFS,
David

Hi Janice,
I'm glad you had an enjoyable time here in SI. I pass this road often and still not sick with the scenery because it is an ever changing scene. Wonderfully captured ... lucky you got a clear photo od Mt. Cook. Well done! tfs
