beautiful scenery. the only flaw is the sky overexposed. i think, instead of adjusting curve, brightness, contrast on a single photo, you would be better off using HDR technique or software. that way you can enhance the FG without overexposing the BG/sky. just my 0.02

Tim,
Can't help you on the lens. However this picture is GREAT. I like the colors and composition. The reflection of the rocks in the water is wonderful. Well done.

Kevin

The lens is fine and the light on the fg is good, Tim. I have a lot of pictures taken with it. It's a good, solid little lens and takes some wonderful snaps. Where the problem here lies is the CCD. If you had more sky, the land will darken and if you have more land, the sky will brighten so like it was said, the HDR option is the best unless you want to, like me, use filters, either ND Gray Grad or Blue Grad. Try to shoot away from the sun as well, for some reason it works much better. I even use my little HP p/s for some like this and at times, it does a better balancing job than I can get with the 350XT. I usually take both cameras and take multiple shots because I 'really' don't want to have to return or dump my footage. Shooting things like this in evening light or morning light sometimes works better as well because then the 'gray scale' of blue and landscape is much more closely matched with the darkness of the sky versus the land.

Hi Tim,
Another good'n from you.
By unsharp, I presume your talking at full resolution. Your lens is fine for TL postings.
I would suggest having a look at Canon's EFS 17-85 IS lens, a little dearer, but stunning clarity and contrast.
24mm on your camera equates to 38mm, not very wide angle.
Hope this helps.
Pete.

I only just realised that you're shooting with a Canon now! Great!!
When I first bought the 400 I was a little disappointed by the 18-55mm too, but actually I came to figure that it's just fine. Versatile - and 'real.' Sharpness can be added very effectively without increasing noise, but I think we're so accustomed to seeing sharpy-sharp shots in TL that we forget that life itself is seldom that sharp. :)
You've done a splendid job here and this is far and above more detailed than any of your shots on the Fuji. The detail in the waves is stunning.

Stunning!! What a rough life you have! AHHAHA! Love this Tim! Excellent clarity and sharpness! It has a zip to it that I really like! I just bought a 24-70mm DG APO Macro lens and I just LOVE it....makes for superb portraits! Check out my self portrait from yesterday! You will see the results!

Great shot Tim, pin sharp and with lovely colours and a great DoF. I've got nothing but praise for the Sigma lenses I've used.
Cheers, John.
Smiley tomorrow.

Hi Tim
You have very beautiful scenery to photograph in New Zealand. This is one of them. I like your composition and use of the wide angle lens. The reflection in the water is good. Well done.
