The Beauty of the Iris

When we bought this half-acre of land 20 years ago there were over 100 different types of irises growing in the garden. Apparently, at the end of November each year the owners had a garden party to welcome the irises as they started to flower.

We saw the land in January 1988 and took it over in the September. And come November we saw only 5 iris plants. The family had invited friends and neighbours in to take whatever plants they wanted. We were very disappointed. . .

Iris in Bloom

Colourful flowers make us happy – and no one can argue with that.

Whether a blue iris, a white or yellow iris, or one of a wide range of other colour tones, bouquets of irises always add a magical blast of colour to any occasion.

They say that:
Blue iris flowers are traditional;
White iris are elegant;
Yellow have a little added character.

Irises are stunning, delicate flowers that blossom very briefly each year, so it's important to capture the blooming iris on camera.
