Rew I like that nostalgic/little sad look..
Makes us produce stories..
Mine ?? I think you forgot to bring her a cup of Tea on bed that morning..yes?
serious.. good clean shot and the right sharpness and skin tones.
Yes.. said I it often to you in the past .. portraits is your 'cup of tea '
Very good ! Did you see the new comer here ? Peter with the portrait of the blue eyed giirl ?
Serious competition for you mate ! But that is just what keeps us sharp ..
Regards
John
I cant really say which I think is better, I think their *different*.
They are both very differently composed. Like asking who is better, Bjork or Led Zepplin, they are too different, lol.
But humor aside, both are good, well composed images.
However...I think I personally prefer the workshop. It seems to have a bit more going on. But this is just personal preference. I have never really like portraits that are JUST the persons face, and nothing else, I like a little element to the image, something to set the mood.
Just my opinion. But both are very good. A great way to end the series for sure. You should both be proud.

I think I would like to see the hand that you cropped. Very nice expression. I also like the "rejected" one, a lot. I don't think you have a bad one!

Hi, Rew...
I think I like the one you posted better. You had good instincts about the open space. I like this a lot. She has a very pretty heart shaped face and I like how the eyes and expression draw you in. She looks like a waif in need of comforting. A very tender, soft mood to this. As always, beautifully done. Many thanks and kindest wishes,
Shelly

i like the sad mood, i'm not a specialist of portraits, but i say what i feel, and considering the wonderful alternative photo, i am not feeling that this one is a masterpiece of framing and pose (yes i truly prefer the alternative)

I'm sorry, but I'm not really agree with your choice here. I find the light too dull. Besides, we see the discoloration of the skin around the eyebrows and the hairline.
But on the other hand, the face is very beautiful, the expression of this young woman gives also very beautiful eyes.
Sorry again, but I put just one smile for this photo. I'm used to seeing pictures stronger of your hand.
Thx.
HI Rew
The first thing that strikes me before anything else, is the lack of contrast. I'm sorry but for me this makes for a dull picture.
I have done a workshop, which I feel maintains the expression which you like but has a lot more impact, you may disagree. Really just added contrast and a more funky crop, which gets rid of alot of stuff you don't need. A picture is not only what you put in, but what you leave out.

Hi Rew,
Very good tight cropping. The softness of the lighting created a much more natural skin tone. Lovely model ... well captured and presented. Image and contrast is also very good.
Excellent work! tfs

I like this one, in terms of lighting it's very natural, shows all weak and strong points of your model.. her expression is quite natural as well;
TFS, regards - Tomasz
I feel like I'm back to see your photo in 1 years ago, no shadow, no highlight, no dimension and also the lighting natural but too dull for my eyes.

She is really pretty, You shot a different Sophia again. But in my personal choice I would not like to be shot this close. I do'nt find it good, every pores in her face shows super detailed , a few distance will be much better.

Stunning portrait. I think it´s hard the choice . I must , lok and look... The different gives me different moods. The one you post has a spectacular light skin. The you way you capture portrait are really superb. Sophia is always great model.

Hello Rew,
You simply take my breath away my friend! Outstanding again..Well exposed and the contrast is wonderful!Very nice color, tones and sharpness. One of a kind shot! Love it!

Thank you very much for the wonderful critiques on my "WEDDING S1" picture...:)
Okay, let's see here.
I'm a fan of the posting versus your workshop. I think, although a bit dark, the detail and naturalness of the skin is truly wonderful and amazing, and, for me, people are seen in a natural light sometimes, and that's what I like about this.
Her looking at/through the fence, well I couldn't find any "hooks" that attracted me/caught my eye like her look and skin does in the posted one.
As to the workshop from "sticks", given my admittedly empty technical knowledge about portraits, for me it may be technically better but I don't like it nearly as much as the original and, for me again, it lost what attracted me to the original.
But then, what do I know other than what I like. :o)
Nice work all, and a good lesson/learning experience for me, so thanks.

Hello Rew. I like the facial expression and probably still thinking about her mobile device. Sharp image with pleasant lighting and wonderful light catches along the facial outline. Best regards. Jusni

I prefer the alternative shot mate, more mysterious, let me thinking what she was looking out there, and the expression is superb. Although this one is nice. Well done.

She looks so sad. But it is a lovely portrait. The lighting is good - her skin looks natural, and those eyes are so deep and expressive.
(BTW, I like both the pics)

hello Rew
another good expression of eyes, you have good Repo with your models.

Hi Rew,
What a sad looking! Good shot my friend. I like the mood. I name this shot as "Farewell for a lover". I read the story of her mobile ;-) Her eyes are very lovely and helps so much for this mood expression. Technically, I think the light and contrast is lack a little bit. Also you cropped it so well.
Regarding the alternative, I think they are completely different work. Both are nice. I like the alternate too. Well done! TFS!
Regards,
Masroor
No much emotion in her face, Rew.
Does she know all your jokes by now ?
Tell her about the photographer who wanted to made a series of his beautiful young neighbour.
His wife told him, NO.!
Hi Rew,
I've gone through several times of this image . . and read all the comments . . I learn new things . .
I know it's not your usual shot . . and I don't want to add more comment . . I know and you know what is all about . .
This is the reason I read thoroughly all comments on a person that I treat him or her as my guru . . and you are one of them . .
But thank you for being honest accepting all the comments . . and this is something that I am proud of . .
You give very honest feedback . . so does Richard (Kilted Arab) . . and that makes me learn . .
I am enjoying my week at home . .
Tfs,
Tjutjut
Hi Rew,
I like this concept of capturing her moods perfect in a close shot..
Natural tones and sharp details.
Nostalgic eyes...
Well done, dear friend.
The WS image has a different touch of REW.
Enjoy.

Hi Rew, overall good but it looks like a bad passport photo to me because of the lighting here and she looks a bit cyanotic. She's a nice-looking girl, photogenic. Actually, I liked the 'rejected' photo for how the shot came out. ;)

both images are fine and each has its own impact. To me, they were all well executed.
