Clothes Maketh the Lady

Why do we bother what other people think about our appearance? Why do we dress like others? Why not just live our lives dressing up according to who we really are?

This lady dresses for attention:

She is an American Strong Woman

This is an American busker, called Mama Lou who came to NZ this year to take part in the Auckland International Buskers Festival 2008.

Reading Mama Lou's résumé, you would expect the woman behind the talents to be a muscular lady. But she's a small brunette from Seattle, who can rip a phone book in half with her bare hands, crush an apple with her bicep and play a game of human tug-of-war with her body as the rope.

"American Strong Woman" Mama Lou, aka Linsey Lindberg, was one of 14 buskers from around the world who performed in the Auckland International Buskers Festival this year.

She certainly caught the crowd’s attention as she ripped the Yellow Pages phone book in half in 15 seconds.

She picked her assistant from the crowd and made him put on the orange tights. And did he do well. He had to keep cheering her along to the music and her never-ending banter – and he got as many cheers as the lady herself.

As soon as I saw Helen’s topic as CLOTHES, I thought of this pair, and I hope you enjoy the brilliance and shape of their clothes. . .

THANKS HELEN

Pam, Dawn and I spent the day in Auckland City following the buskers as they performed in different areas of the City. We did get some good people shots, and I took this one along to our Photo Club last night – the Topic was Street Scene / People.

Hello Janice! Wonderful dynamic scene. Good capture. Original shot. Well done!

Hi Janice,
A good fun one for the theme...his clothing is quite fetching too.
Good timing, the Yellow Pages are just about to become two.
The is a trick to ripping directories in two, but it still involves a fair bit of effort.
Honours last night?
Pete.

Hi Janice

Hello Dear janice
A very novel capture. Youve managed a perfect pov and also captured her in the act(notes). The visual clear, crisp with rich colours and is perfectly timed. Clarity is premium here as the veins on her neck are also clearly visible.
Great Job.

I had to look up the word Busker, I honestly had never heard it before. Strange.

Anyway, this is an interesting life piece shot, there is a lot of motion and eMotion that you have effectively captured here. There is quite a lot going on here and kept me entertained for a bit longer than the average shot.

Thanks for sharing,

-zeb

Lots of action lots of colour Janice.

their happy and that's all that matters

Cheers
Gil

Hi Janice,

Great action shot. You have frozen the action perfectly. Great detail, I can almost feel the tension as she rips down the yellow pages.

Great fun, well done and TFS,

John

Hi Janice, incredible shot here, strength and beauty combined in an almost superhuman feat. TFS This is one of the best photos I've seen today. Great shot, placement in the photo, etc.

Hi Janice, Great photo, lots of colour and happiness maybe not for the guy sitting to the right he looks a bit unsure of this strong women.
Brillant action shot.
Maree

the man is so noticeable in the orange more than the lady.. beautiful capture, Janice.. i like the lady expression here and the man.. colourful clothes they are wearing.. good one for this week theme.. tfs..

regards, terry

Hello Janice,

Do her clothes hint at a certain amount of patriotism? She is obviously a lady full of energy and ego!

I like your shot. It infers her boundless energy and her involvement with the crowd!
Her outfit is young and, as suggested, possibly patriotic.
You have done well to keep this action shot perfectly sharp.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

I'll be back!

Hello, Janice -
Great clothes and great pose! Lots of happy energy in this shot; the bright clothing is sharp and well-shown, and the expressions and postures of the people really make this a special capture. Great note, too.

This is one fun shot, well composed and timed to capture the feel of the action, both the volunteer and the star.
I think the POV and the placement of the main characters is excellent as is the small view of the audience.
Really well presented and a wonderful solution to the theme.
Thanks for a great view,
Wilt

Hello again!

A funny journalistic shot . The image says it all. When I looked at the photo, I tought first luc ( Lucbus ) Visited Auckland ( LOL !)The ressemblance ( physical not the clothing ) is surprising from this angle.
Colorful, full of life and fun composition . Even the spectators are enjoying the performance.
Well done.
Robert
