Auckland Botanic Gardens

This is one of the lakes at the Auckland Botanic Gardens, which is home to over 10,000 plants from around the world; and it is spread over 64 hectares in Manurewa, South Auckland.

In Auckland's mild, moist climate a wide variety of plants can be successfully grown - from temperate to tropical regions as can be seen in our wide selection of plant collections.

The extensive native plant collections feature endangered plants, a forest walk, a flax weaving collection, a native plant identification trail and native plant ideas to try at home.

They have a large collections of native plants, including species mainly from northern New Zealand, and is presented in landscaped gardens, replica habitats and a native forest.

New Zealand's plants are unique, having evolved in isolation for thousands of years. There are around 2357 plant species with approximately 80% of these endemic - meaning they don't occur naturally anywhere else in the word.

I'm copying and pasting this reply I sent to some of the viewers:

Quite a few have commented on the blue reflections in the water. I rechecked the images from that day - and they are mostly all flowers!!! But those with the sky show all grey cloud - yet about 4 of the water views show pieces of a blue sky.

I took the photos last November - I know it didn't rain that day and I guess the photos don't lie!!

I will post some more showing the reflections next time.

Cheers
Janice

Strange, the reflection does not seem to match the sky :-).
Beautiful view.

Hi Janice,
What a lovely scene well captured! Dispite the grey sky an fine view. Weird to see the blue patches of the sky reflecting in the water. Like the lush greens here, must be a wonderful place to visit, I will add it to my "What-to-visit-in-NZ-list" :-)

Patches of blue sky perhaps Janice, I know many of my Tamar shots show the same thing. A pretty spot and well captured regardless of the sky. Nice detail and a lovely range of greens.
