[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This image is a result of using spot metering.
The same image, using Pattern metering overexposed the flower. Even two stops under, the highlights were marginal.
Spot metering has given me ideal exposure on the flower, and created a moody dark background.
Worth remembering, most cameras have more than one metering mode.

I have just waded through my PDF file for the Olympus Pete and discovered it has spot metering. An excellent result you have achieved here and the colour and detail on the bud is perfect.

Okay, that is a problem I had as well recently when trying a similar shot, thanks so much for the tip - yes I can do different metering modes. The fast shuttertime will also probably contribute to the moody dark here.
I love your creation - those orange edges on the green leaves really stand out in an elegant way.

Yep, good point on the meter, many have three metering selections. Very sharp, well composed posting as the result with the f-stop taking care of the BG.
