Dunstan Range, New Zealand

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is the beautiful Dunstan Range of mountains in central South Island. The interior, although relatively rugged, is also quite desolate and barron. The trees around are all turning colour this time of year, and the light sprinkle of snow on the tops of the mountains brings a fresh and crisp feel to the air. This photo has quite an artistic impression to it, as it looks more like an oil painting than a photo. I hope you will agree. The foreground is sprinkled full of golden leaves from the surrounding elms and poplars.

Oh yes! Absolutely stunning Barry. You're right - it does look like an oil painting. I like all the different layers to this scene, starting with the soil, the green grass, the fence, the dry hills, the hedge of dark trees, more hills, then the magnificent snow, and finally the cloud covered sky. And it is framed with the autumn coloured leaves. Excellent. TFS.
I love the colors and the frame, very sharp image.
Good job Barry
I last toured South Island in the early 90's. Your photo reminds me of the great time my family and I had while visiting your very beautiful country. Photo well composed but could be better with more vibrant colours. Overall, well done!
