I can see Auckland at my Feet

Here I am taking photos while standing on the Glass Floor panels in the Sky Tower. WHAT FUN!!

These solid glass floor panels are 38mm thick. They don't look solid or strong - but walking on them was like walking on an ordinary floor - only I did feel a little bit unsure at first when I looked down!

This is the view downward at 189 Metres, taken from the Main Observation level.

The Sky Tower is an observation- and telecommunications tower located on the corner of Victoria and Federal Streets in the Auckland CBD, Auckland City, New Zealand.

Sky Tower is 328 metres (1,076 ft) tall, as measured from ground level to the top of the mast making it the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere, and the 12th tallest member of the World Federation of Great Towers.

I'm off on holiday to the Bay Of Islands, in the far north of New Zealand, and I will see you all in a week's time.

Hi Janice, What a great view!! Did you feel nervous standing on this glass floor? The details are extremely sharp and colourful. Very good addition to the theme!
Cheers, Pat.

Hello, Janice -
Perfect addition to the theme, and also a great image in its own right. Superb graphics! You kept the focus sharp at all depths and distances. Very nice work.

Wow Janice,

Vertigo sufferers beware!

Great shot, great take on the theme, can't get any more looking down than this!

Love the shadows throughout the image....strange no one in the pool or at the tables, early morning?

I remember the tower on my memorable visit to Auckland, and although I didn't visit the tower, I did visit a little Irish Bar, which is just around the corner! Bliss...

Well done with the image, Janice. TFS, and Kia ora!!

Take care,

John

Okay, when you say it was fun I have to believe you Janice - but my hands are getting wet just by examening your picture - and indeed there is lots to see in this attractive picture.
So just maybe to get a good picture I would try to do a thing like this.
Lovely view on SkyCity.

Hi Janice,

not telling me to jump down there I hope?! :-D Nice take, with strong sense of space - scared me a bit... Nicely framed so that the diagonals form distinct areas within the photo making it stronger. tfs

Hello Janice,
lots of interesting diagonal lines and geometry here. It's almost an abstract as a thumbnail but all is revealed when the bigger picture is seen.
Bev

Hi Janice,
Nice view on the pool but, sorry, I don't feel to dive . The car gives a good scale and I like your angle to take this shot . Good work and addition to the theme .

Hi Janice,
Stunning "looking down" image, great POV almost make me feel vertigo. Can you dive from this point into the pool? :-)
Anyway you must take me to this point! (and have a cup of coffee :-)
Hans

Reminds me of the lifts in our hotel in Kuala Lumpur a few years back Janice, all glass and on the outside of the building. Deifinitely suitable for the theme and the colours and detail exceptional.
Dave

Tricia

Hello Janice, I don't think that I would have dared to put a foot on this glass floor!
You have made an interesting composition from the view below.I like all the diagonal lines.
There are some lovely patterns when I begin to look carefully, especially the shadows across the patio area, and the reflections on the right hand side.
Excellent sharpness.
Tfs, regards Jean.

No way would I have walked out there. This shot is really "Looking Down". Cool place to visit but I still would not get on the glass floor.

Interesting POV,Well control of element and line in this frame,Love the diagonal line that look sharp and 90 degree angle look made the thing like a dotto this composition.Good work,TFS.

Well caught Janice. I've stood at the base of the 'Skytower' many a time, but never seen the view from up top. Nice clear shot through the glass.
DAvid

Hello my dear,

Fantastic shot, love the pov here, now that tells me I don't have to go up to Sky tower to see what everyone is seeing...:P That's just wonderful composition, not only everything so tiny, but it also form a repitition image and pattern. Excellent work,

Have a nice day,
Cheers,
Sweety

Nicely done Janice, you were very brave to stand on the glass. I've been up there a few times, and never saw the glass so clean.
I like the lighting, and the different angles running through, there is a lot to see, well done.
Pete.

Janice Hi;
Sorry I am so late with this.
This is just an amazing compositon and I am sure an unusually feeling when first stepping out on the glass floor.
Thanks for the educational note.
Your presentation is magnificent, Congratulations.
