Hibiscus Flowers

There are about 200 species of hibiscus known to exist, and each species has its own unique kind of flower. However, all hibiscus flowers share certain features. There may now be over 10,000 named varieties of tropical hibiscus, with six distinct forms of flowers, and more colours and combinations of colours than any individual can effortlessly imagine.

So, if you find a flower with this particular arrangement of flower parts -- a staminal tube surrounding a long, slender style that's split into slender, spreading branches at the top -- you'll know you have an hibiscus flower!

Hibiscus flowers are perfect for decoration, given that the flowers will not wilt, even with no water, until it is time for them to close naturally. Opening buds can be picked in the early hours of the morning, placed tenderly in the refrigerator, and brought out for evening celebrations; the cold delays the hibiscus flower's closing by quite a few hours.
