Corban Estate Arts Centre

The Corban Estate Arts Centre is located at the historic Corban Winery Estate in Henderson, Waitakere City. The centre is a half an hour drive (outside of rush hour) from the Auckland CBD, and within easy walking distance of the Henderson township. The Corban Estate Arts Centre is also located on the western rail line.

The development of the Corban Estate Arts Centre is an initiative that was undertaken by the Waitakere Arts and Cultural Development Trust . The Trust was set up by the Waitakere City Council in 1999 and took possession of the buildings on the Corban Winery site in June 2001, with the aim of establishing an Arts Centre. The Trust employed its first staff member in October of that year.

The land and buildings on the Corban Winery site are owned by the Waitakere City Council, and were purchased from the consortium that owned Corban Wines in 1991. While the Corban family still have a strong personal interest in the site, there is no longer any direct link to Corban Wines.

The emphasis of Corban Estate Arts Centre is on the promotion and development of arts and culture in and for Waitakere City. The Corban Estate Arts Centre is an exciting new development for the arts infrastructure of Waitakere City. Over the coming years Council are discussing a number of projects planned to further advance the development of the Arts Centre. These include major redevelopment of the site – roadways, parking, and entrances; the development of a Performance Venue; a purpose built Pacific Island Arts and Cultural Centre and restoration of the existing buildings.

PP work was just a slight tweak to details using the Topaz Detail filter in Photoshop.

Thanks for veiwing.

Whacky and vivid colour from the Topaz treatment - really stands out in the gallery.. The pano crop is good for this shape of subject and as ever the sharpness is great and to me that's always the baseline for a good photo.

Hi Ralph
I can't say I have been here. Nice look at the old-style Auckland house. Good focus and sharp details and colours too.
