Cathedral Square, dominated by the Anglican Cathedral, marks the heart of Christchurch.
The neogothic Cathedral's cornerstone had been laid on 16 December 1864 but the money had run out therefore the building began again in 1873 and finished completely in 1904.

In December 2000 a statue representing the 'Risen Christ', sculpted by Terry Stringer, was unveiled next to the southwest doors of the cathedral.

PP: Apart from the unusual angle, the pic didn't live up to my expectation so I decided to make it more alive. :) Since the sky was a little overexposed I put it on a different layer and started to play with contrast and saturation to emphasize the sky until I got this dramatic sky that fits the mood ! :) I hope you like it..

Good shot and good PP Tom. I like the ambiance in this photo wich is suggested by the statue in the foreground.
Nice angle.
Bravo!

Yeah, you did great, Tom. Great compo and mood !

Marleen

very nice POV, i love the angle
the composition is strong, good moody feel in the photo

Nice work Tom, I love the perspective on the steeple. The statue is a little overpowered by the presence of the church and that kind of has a symbolism of it's own I'd say. Was the tip of the steeple meant to differ in tone from the rest of the church?

Excellent Shot!! nice angle of attack and very gothic. Like how the statue is facing down at you from the top.

Well Done!!!

Very nice shot and POV. I like the mellow colour of the church and of the clouds. It gives a warm and peaceful feeling
