[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the first time I have seen such a red mushroom. It looks just like the ones that used to be made of plaster of paris and put on display in great grandmas gardens.

No way would I categorise this as food. Looks exceedingly poisonous. Sorry don't know what its called, nor do I have a polariser to stop the reflection

Kia ora Kay - yes this is one of the most poisonous mushrooms. But it is so pretty. I won't even touch them with my fingers.
This is a good shot of one, and the leaves too. Good colours too.

Nicely captured Kaye regardless of the shine. I have one buried away in my gallery somewhere and because of the forest canopy had to use the flash. Poisonous they are but also one of those some use to get that hallucogenic effect. Good colour and sitting along side the leaves it does look like one of thos garden ornaments. TFS,

...Ah,my speciality!
This is the 'Fly Agaric' mushroom (Amanita muscaria)
The skin and white dots were put into milk and used as a fly attractant and killer.
It has been used by various cultures as a hallucinogenic and in spiritual rituals,although the hallucinogen is not in any way similar to Psilocybin,the hallucinogen in most 'Magic Mushrooms' picked by trippers. (I have had both,and did not enjoy this one much)
They are certainly photogenic. I have had about 50 growing on my front lawn in the last few weeks and will post some shots of them soon.
As long as you have a reasonable background,it is often best to get down to the level of the mushroom for best effect,and focussing on a point halfway up the cap will often give a sharper image all over.
