Windows
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A window is an opening in an otherwise solid and opaque surface that allows the passage of light and, if not closed or sealed, air and sound. Windows are usually glazed or covered in some other transparent or translucent material. Windows are held in place by frames, which prevent them from collapsing in.

I was so pleased that these windows, at 192 metres from the earth, were held in place by strong, sturdy frames, and that they didn’t collapse while we were up the Sky Tower the other day.

This is another photo I took when my husband and I had lunch in the Observatory Restaurant in the SKY Tower in Auckland City.

While we were there these 5 people and a guide walked on a 1.2 metre-wide walkway all the way around the Sky tower – 192 metres above the ground, no handrails and nothing but air either side of them! Oh yes, they were tied by rope to the frames above them.

They traversed 360 degrees around the Sky Tower – the tallest tower in the Southern Hemisphere and I took a few photos of them.

We are facing west here. 1200 miles away over those hills (the Waitakere Ranges) lies Australia. . .

The guide is taking their photos.

Check out the Workshop – I have placed a close-up photo of Sky Tower marking where we were that day.

I have showed Sandy some of these Janice, she, like me passes on the height. Apart from the frame you would think there was no window there, good colour and light and nice detail.

hello Janice,
another excellent shot of this intrepid bunch. I like the blue photographer's pose. The guy on the left is going all out to look cool about the whole thing too.I like the composition with the pillar in the restaurant defining the one third point.
