Bleak indeed ... but beautifully captured. Very good use of the diagonal element of the fenceline as a point of interest through the frame. The lone tree is a good detail also.
Cooold!!

Hi Sue,
I don't think it's bleak at all. I think snow is absolutely beautiful no matter the sky. I think I need to move to the southern hemisphere during our summer as it's too hot here!!
I like the curve of the fence in your photo as well as the lone tree. Interesting taken looking up the hill. Very nice.... Hope you went home and had some hot chocolate!

Very interesting - bleak isn't the word... Very good composition, I may have cropped a bit of the top out but that still doesn't detract from the overall image.
Well captured.

Temperature approaching 50c here in Dubai today....
Hi Sue. Great photo. Beautifully composed and well selected POV. I love the overall effect of the snow on the scene, very painterly. Nice work and thanks for sharing.
Have a nice day, Paul ;-).

Hi Sue, what an exciting time it must have been for you. It doesn't look like NZ!! Yes, the fence does, but not the snow like this.
I thought is was B&W but I can see brown tones on the tree and fence posts. It's a well composed image

Hi Sue
Impressive and quite exciting moment for the Manawatu with this rare snow settling like this. Also prompted me to post a pic on TL.
I too initially thought this photo to be a B&W compo. I like it, the POV along the fence line is awesome and there's no doubt the snow is rapidly descending giving a real sense of action. GReat photo! TFS.

Excellent Sue, lovely tones of sepia and yet some green still visible. Typical NZ countryside with that fence zigzagging its way up the hill. There have been falls of snow here in some places that haven;t ever had it, a strange winter downunder.

Hi Sue,
Great image! I like the composition, although I too would perhaps crop the top slightly. You've certainly captured some mood and the bleakness of the weather.
I don't blame you for staying in the car, it's really hard to take photos when you can no longer feel your fingers.
Regards,
Phil

Wow, I never expected to see a photo like this from New Zealand. It looks more like Canada for sure... well, not right now, it is bright and sunny and warm here. I like the composition too, having the fence curve through the frame from left to right adds interest to the composition. Nice one!
Cheers Joan
Thanks for your comments on me recent photo. Hope you get back to Alaska one day.
