(Title borrowed from the book written by Jack Higgins)

Since I posted Sound of Silence this boat has been in a cradle at the Tamar Yacht Club undergoing a refit so I was able to read her name plate. With the combination of fog, an extreme low tide and the fact that the Eagle was sitting in the mud, I thought the title suited the image. In the workshop the resized only original image.

Fog wise this last winter in Launceston has been strange with areas of localised fog only and only 4 days of lingering fog. Unfortunately most days when I did venture out with my camera I found myself in the wrong locale. This photo from June 6th and taken the same day as Boardwalk I, immediately after Not Floating and before Tamar Fog I. The muted colours and seemingly dismal scene reflect my mood of the last few days.

Hope you are doing well! A nice surprise on this Saturday, great imapression of this boat landed on "dry" land. The grey tones are perfect creating a special mood. The gulls are a nice deatil in this fine picture.
Great one my friend and take care!

Hi David,
Nice POV of the Southern Ocean with the boat and the eagles on it. Pale colours give the viewers a mysterious feeling. Well done! TFS.
Greetings,

Hello David

It is final of winter, it is going leaving yours
last landscape ashes and with your beautiful fogs.
Interesting the stagnated boat, the times for here, when the tide
he lowers a lot, the boats of the fishermen suffer this same impact!
A beautiful one visual
Congratulations!

Sérgio

Hi David,
I do enjoy looking at this almost monochrome of silvery gray. It is like painting on a canvas with a well defined and attractive b/g. Mighty fine details, the positioning of the stranded boat is ideal. Best regards, Danilo

What a desolate looking day amplified by the boat forlornly sitting on dry land. (well, sort of dry)
Nice work again on making something out of the fog and mist. We're about to get hit by tropical storm Hanna here so the weather here is almost as snotty as in your photo here.
Hope all is well with you and TFS,
Wilt

I really like this David! Nice details, love the large amount of space in front of the boat! Looks miserably cold.... very nice sharpness too!

Hello David
Almost black and white for the spirit of desolation!
Appears really stuck in the sterile mud for a while ...not a single gull to take her company!
So sad.
Have a g'day.
Robert

i like the title, David :) the boat have just to wait till the high tide.. as always beautiful capture even on moody day..

have a wonderful Sunday.. tfs..

regards, terry

Hello David,

Cheer up! Winter is nearly over for you and the spring should lift your spirit as well as your health.

The horizontal layers of grey split up the f/g and lead the eye out towards the focal point.
The gulls look to be in charge! Is this a scene from 'The Birds'?

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Bom dia David

Good old mudflats! You wonder how much damage is done to a boat sitting on the mud like this twice a day.
It could just about be a B&W image Dave.
Well captured, and very good PP work.
I hope you're taking it easy and that you are getting better,
Best regards
Janice

One of my all-time favourite authors, Jack Higgins... did you also read the sequel, "the eagle has flown"? Terrific book. I'm also very fond of the motion picture with a fantastic crew: Michael Cain, Robert Duvall, Jenny Agutter and Donald Sutherland.
And I think this picture fits very well in that movie (or book), David. I recall the escape scene with the V-boat.
A very nice connection you made here.

hi David

I hope you are getting better. For that, I have posted a more casual looking beach and sea for you, although at first I was tempted to post you a morning fog.

This is a tough nut to crack for exposure. So much monotone here to the background. The stones at FG is giving nice shade of dark grey and the boat is sufficiently visible with thin fog but its placement makes the shot much more interesting.

tfs, bill

david,
very nicely composed pic with everything in the right place...

loved it!!

I like the mood in this and the seagulls all sitting about. The rock in the foreground adds depth and allows the image space to breathe. Nice.

Hello David, I don't know how, but you manage to make mud flats look attractive!
I like the monochrome unity of this shot.
The composition is well balanced; you have a good eye for achieving balance imo.
The gulls add a little bit of life to the scene.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hope that you are feeling better.
