Tricky little fellow this wasp. I found her inside our living room and she was a bit groggy. We still have winter weather here and she must have worked herself into a frizzle. I put her into a glass covered with a black cloth and let her recover for 24hrs. Then I sat her on some honey and let her refuel, during which time I was able to take some shots using the 105mm macro lens with 68mm extension tubes. So this picture is NOT cropped.
Well needless to say that the wasp wisped off after refuelling. NO animal has been harmed in making this picture.

Another impressive macro, Helmut. The f/1, 1/4 seconds impresses me as the shot is so sharp and the depth of field is wider than I'd expect - but I know sod all about macros so perhaps that just highlights the fact i'm a macro moron :-)

All I know is that this is as good as any wasp macro i've seen on TL. Very impressive.

Hi Helmut !
Once again, a very nice macro. I think you are a master in this kind of photo.
I'm happy to learn that we can add extension tubes with this lens. What kind of flash did you use ?

Congratulations,

Pierre

A superb macro - such sharp details for such a relatively long exposure - I'm surprised that the wasp didn't move in that time.
Thanks for sharing
Mark
